I have recently joined the Selection Committee for the European Technology Tour’s Cloud & ICT 2.0 Summit, which will be held on 17^th and 18^th November 2010 in Switzerland (Lausanne and Geneva).

The European Tech Tour Association (ETT) was launched in 1998, with the goals of promoting European entrepreneurship and providing a platform for entrepreneurs and investors to meet.

Regional Tech Tours (focused on one or more countries) and Vertical Summits (European-wide, focusing on a particular industry segment) are invitation-only events organised by and for venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and selected corporates:

• For the 30 selected entrepreneurs, an ETT Summit represents a unique opportunity to present to an audience of high quality investors with the objective of obtaining financing;
• For the investors, it is a way to meet a large number of pre-screened, high quality investment opportunities over two days;
• For all delegates, it is an opportunity to meet a sector’s or a country’s most promising start up and growth stage companies and to network with investors and corporates.

Since 1998, more than 45 successful events have taken place (two regional, two vertical per year), with an average audience of 100-150 delegates. Each year, more than 1,000 companies are screened through the selection process.

The 2010 ETT Cloud & ICT 2.0 Summit  is the first ETT Vertical Summit covering all aspects of Cloud Computing innovation (including Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service) and related technologies.

The aim of the Selection Committee, which consists of 15-20 panellists principally drawn from the venture capital industry, is to encourage promising companies to submit information to the Selection Committee, and then to evaluate that information in a standardised way.
